Bridesmaid Proposal

Hi friends,

Ever since I got engaged, I knew that I wanted to have a unique and very “DIY” Bridesmaid Proposal experience for my best girl friends. It took me awhile to think about what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to opt for a little bit more than your typical curated boxed gift with customized champagne flute and the mini champagne bottle we’ve all seen.

I have to be honest, this event was actually hosted 1.5 years ago, pre-pandemic in the summer of 2019 but I decided it’s better late than never to start documenting my journey as a DIY bride. Taking advantage of my mother’s new long table in her backyard, I planned a surprise “plant night” brunch by tricking each bridesmaid to come by for the surprise event.

The Box

Inevitably, each bridesmaid did get their own special curated box of goodies:

  1. Wooden crate from Ikea

  2. Vegan leather keychain tag and gold monogram pins from Lark & Ives

  3. Gold mini photo frame from Michaels Canada

  4. Misters from Amazon (comes in a pack of two)

  5. Customized gold geometric planter from AliExpress

  6. Black Apron from Amazon (comes in a pack of two, and I got the kids sizes so that they’re “cuter” and sit above the knee)

  7. Acrylic card asking them to be my bridesmaids

The Activity

The “experience” I decided with was potting our own succulents. I got the cutest little succulents from Pine Flora Co. After a hearty brunch, we all gathered around the table to pot our succulents into the geometric planters.

The Stationery

Of course, being a calligrapher, I couldn’t skip out on the signs:

The signage at the front of the house directing each guest to the backyard.

Acrylic card for each bridesmaid to pop the question.

for smaller signs, Gold Umbra geometric frames with a framed monstera leaf.

Looking back, I really miss the ability to gather and have events like this. Sadly we had to postpone our August 2020 wedding to 2021, but regardless I’m happy to have these wonderful ladies by my side !

Cheers,

Vivian
