COVID-Safe Gender Reveal (Free Printable)
Hi friends,
This fall, we had a COVID-Safe gender reveal party from the mother and father-to-be’s backyard. Due to the restrictions in our city at the time, we were able to gather outdoors with masks. We took advantage of the nice weather to celebrate our friends with a few tweaks to your typical gender reveal. Hoping to share some ideas to help inspire you to plan your own COVID-safe parties once the weather warms up.
The Setup
We engaged some local vendors to help us prepare the main parts of the setup. Here we have a gender neutral balloon garland by @lylydiy which set up the perfect backdrop for all the photos.
The beautiful food graze was prepared by @platesandplatters_ inclusive of both her charcuterie and banh mi offerings.
Games
In general, we digitized many of the games so that everyone can play on their smart phones by scanning a QR code leading them to a google form. We set up each form so that guests can easily input their answers without having to share pens / paper, minimizing the points of contact between all the guests.
Mask Up
Pick a mask that corresponds to the gender you think the baby will be. Good way to provide masks for those who may have forgotten and very visual way to see everyone’s guesses! See link below for free download of this printable!
Old Wive’s Tales
Guests scanned the QR codes that lead to a google form where we had inputted all the questions. Guests then guessed whether the pregnancy symptoms predicts the gender of the baby. We then got the mother-to-be to answer the questions based on her own symptoms as another “hint” to the gender.

Guess the Flavours
A Covid-friendly way to play the typical baby food tasting game. Each guest scanned the QR code, sanitized their hands, and used a new popsicle stick for every flavour that they try. The QR code lead to a google form where 4 options were provided for each flavour. The guests played a game of multiple choice to guess the flavours. Garbage can was also available nearby for easy disposal.
The Reveal
The reveal part can often be planned in various ways. Either a surprise for the parents-to-be, or the parents surprising the guests. For our reveal, the couple gave the gender reveal sealed in an envelope from the Doctor’s office to a vendor. The vendor then set up the reveal for us and so every guest, including the parents were surprised!
Geared a little towards the father-to-be’s love for the sport, the surprise reveal required shooting a small plastic basketball through a hoop. Once the ball gets into contact, it will explode revealing the environmentally friendly coloured powder inside. I’ve seen a few versions of this available on Etsy but it is also available on Amazon.
