DIY - Polaroid Guestbook

Hi friends,

We often want to incorporate a method in which guests can share their thoughts, memories and well wishes to the hosts of any event (think, wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, birthdays, etc.). There are so many wonderful and creative ways to do this, but one of my favourites is the polaoroid guestbook. Here we are using the Fujifilm Instax Mini sized polaroids.

Although this version is very pink (for a Parisienne themed bridal shower), the concept can definitely be applied to any theme or event!

Polaroid Guestbook

You will need:

  • Cardstock in colour of your choice

  • Polaroid photo album (similar one linked here)

  • A cork board, mirror, wall, somewhere to attach your cards

  • Washi tape or other method to attach the cards

  • Fujifilm Instax Mini Camera or Printer

  • Instax Mini film - at least 1 photo per guest

  • Pens and markers

step by step guide

  1. Cut out your cardstock to the same size as your polaroid film. If you are using Instax Mini film, this will be 2.1” x 3.4” big. You will need at least one per expected guest.

  2. On each card, write the name of each expected guest.

  3. At the event, find a location to display these cards. We used washi tape to tape each name card to an acrylic board. Other options can be pinning them to a cork board, or taping them to a wall.

  4. As the guests arrive, instruct them to find their name on the wall. They will take off their name card and write their message and well wishes to the bride on the back of the card.

  5. Using your camera or printer, have each guest take a photo with the bride. We used the polaroid printers which allowed us to take the photos on our smartphones and print them out on the printers for convenience.

  6. Insert each guest’s photo and message side by side into your album to create a booklet of memories for the bride.

Having the name cards double as message cards really help to ensure that each guest gets a chance to write a message for the bride. It also helps you, as the host, to keep track of guest count and whether everyone was able to make the event or not.

Hope this helps inspire you to create your own polaroid guestbook!

Cheers,

Vivian
